Recipe

Prep Time: 5 min
Cook Time: 30 min
Serves: makes 8 chapatis

Ingredients

  • 2 cups buckwheat flour (Buchweizenmehl)
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp oil
  • Salt per taste

Method

  1. Mix flour and salt. Slowly add water and start kneading as shown in the picture below.
  2. Once it is binded together, add little oil so that it is workable.
  3. Heat a flat pan on the stove.
  4. Make a lemon size ball from dough and very slowly roll to a flat bread (u can only roll the pin 2 or 3 times).
  5. Put chapati on the heated flat pan. Turn on both sides and cook.
  6. Serve with a sabzi/dips.

Notes

Buckwheat flour gets very sticky but still is workable. The consistency of dough is a bit loose at the end but you can still make chapati out of it. It is very healthy and a good substitute for wheat.
