Potatoes with Fresh Coconut

  • 2 1/2 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 6 big boiled potatoes - chopped in big pieces
  • 2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 medium onion chopped in half slices
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • salt
  • 10 g coconut


  1. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter. Add onions and turmeric and let it fry for about 1 minute on high.
  2. Add chopped potatoes and stir carefully so potatoes do not break.
  3. Cook on high for 5 minutes or until smell of turmeric goes away.
  4. Add salt, sugar and lemon juice and stir well. Let it cook for a couple of minutes.
  5. Add fresh coconut and chopped corriander.
  6. Serve as a filling for dosas or as a side dish.
