Risotto style rice & moong dal

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 1 cup moong dal
  • 1 1/2 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • salt per taste


  1. Wash rice and moon dal together, remove water and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pot. Add cumin seeds and let it splutter.
  3. Add washed rice and dal along with 8 cups of water. Add turmeric and salt.
  4. let it cook on medium heat for 35 min. keep stirring in between if it get foam. Remove from the heat once it gets a mashy consistency. Remove from the heat and with a hand mixer puree a little.
  5. Serve with your choice of vegetables.
