To Garnish - chopped coriander, fried onion rings and fresh red chilli
Wash moog dal with water. Add 4 cups of water, turmeric and washed moong dal to a pot and bring it to boil. Once it gets foam, reduce the heat to medium/low and let it cook for 20 min. uncovered. Keep removing foam from the top.
Remove from the heat once the dal is boiled and soft.
In a different pan, heat ghee. Add cumin seeds and chopped garlic. Once the garlic is golden in color, add chopped tomato, garam masala and chilli powder. Cook on medium heat for 5 min. or until tomatoes are softened and mashed.
Add boiled dal, one cup of water and salt. Cook for 5 more min.
Add yogurt and cook for another 5 minutes.
Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with fried onion rings, coriander and fresh red chilli.
